Beautiful Bright Kitchen Extension & Repurposed Unused Office to Bootroom

My clients who like cooking & entertaining were looking for a bright airy space and a more contemporary feel and were concerned about how to best utilise the long narrow space. With a beautiful private garden I wanted to make the most of that therefore the following changes were made:

The old kitchen was stripped out & the roof removed to create a pitch which would allow Velux windows to be added to allow the natural light to flood in. The dining area of the kitchen was moved to the opposite end & the bathroom wall demolished to create a bigger area and allow for the kitchen door to be replaced by large bi-folds to allow more light but also maximise the view to the garden. A new WC was created allowing the narrow corridor to be widened & shortened. The unused office space was repurposed into a spacious boot room/ utility with a dog shower for the family’s beloved Portuguese Water dog, a fan of muddy walks in the winter but not fond of an outdoor shower.

In order to break up the space in the length of the kitchen I added a breakfast bar between the cooking and dining areas. We choose a hand painted simple shaker style door for the kitchen in Little Greene Portland Stone and built a chimney structure to house the cooker hood as I felt it gave a cleaner more streamlined look but at the same time felt in keeping with the style & age of the house.

A walk-in pantry/breakfast area was designed to house small appliances like toaster whilst still making them accessible.

The space was enhanced with Rock Revelation work tops, back splash & floating shelves, Miele appliances, Buster & Punch taps & cabinet hardware & beautiful, ribbed butlers sink from Shaws.

This theme continued into the boot room where we used Little Green Cornflower for the units and coat rack.

The WC was fitted with Lusso Stone floating basin & toilet.

An LVT Invictus herringbone floor was laid throughout in natural oak.
